Message from the President:
Well, they said that “the time would fly by as president of the IIAWC” and after a lightning fast first five months, I must say that either I am just getting older and “all time” is ticking off this quickly, or the pace of this position goes by real fast. Here is a brief summary of what we have been busy working on:
Hopefully you or someone from your office was able to attend our early fall, flood mapping seminar at the Tarrytown Marriott. The turn out was tremendous, and we are going to try and repeat this format after the Holiday season, with another useful industry / area topic, sometime prior to E day. (stay tuned)
Next up, is our Capital Event, to take place in Albany of Feb 2nd and 3rd. Known as “L” day, in the past, this has previously been a one day visit to Albany for those that attended from IIAWC, to meet with, and speak with our local legislators, to help bring legislative awareness and change at the State level with the hope of making us all more competitive, more comprehensive and more responsive for our customers while insisting on fairness in the market place with our competition.
I want to personally ask you to make an effort this year to make our two day event in Albany http://ny.iiaa.org/CapitalEvent/CapitalEvent_Brochure.pdf This years event promises to make the most effective use of our members’ time while also offering exceptional workshops and networking opportunities, IIABNY decided to build on the interest and the success of L Day and created IIABNY’s Capital Event. This expanded event will offer independent agents and brokers an experience they cannot obtain anywhere else in the state. Those who attend this conference will gain knowledge, insight, and networking opportunities that will have an immediate and positive impact on themselves and their agency. Let’s make this year the largest showing ever of Westchester agents, and see what kind of an impact we can all make together as a local association here in the great State of New York! We have discounted room rates already arranged and group transportation for those interested in traveling up and back together, with buses leaving and returning right here to the White plains area. Please look through the link above and hopefully you or someone from your office will come and help represent the IIAWC.
We have already sent out our “E”day Save The Date, for March 11,2009, so if you have not marked down this date in your calendar yet, please do so, You should be seeing registration material very soon. We have two great speakers slated for the day, that have been carefully selected based on the turbulent economic & political times we are facing, along with an up front view of where we are and where we are going as in industry, from a top State insurance executives perspective. This promises to again be a great day of introductions for Independent agents, Carrier representatives and vendors.
While I am at it, please mark down June 8, 2009 for our annual golf outing to be held this year, at the beautiful Hampshire Golf club in Mamaroneck NY. Having played there may times myself in the past, I can say that, if the weather cooperates…we are all in for a great day of golf and networking.
Lastly, I hope you enjoy content of the rest of our news letter. My board, myself and our individual committee’s are working very hard to deliver the most meaningful industry ideas and topics to all of you, and I invite you to contact me anytime you would like, with a question , suggestion or concern and I would be more than happy to help.
I look forward to seeing you in Albany !
