On October 4th the IIAWC sponsored a meeting at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown to discuss the proposed New York Health Exchange and the potential affect it would have on the membership. Dick Poppa from IIABNY made a detailed presentation which included the history of the legislation and explained what we may expect going forward. While there is still much uncertainty surrounding the legislation as time passes additional facts should be forthcoming and we will keep you up to date.
It is hard to believe but the holiday season is just around the corner and I wanted to remind all of the IIAWC Holiday Event being held on 12/07/11. Information regarding the event has been sent out recently or you can learn more by visiting IIAWC.com. As Independent Insurance Agents we are all a big part of our local communities and we understand the hardships that many local families are encountering these days. Therefore we have decided to invite the Food Bank of Westchester to come to our Holiday Event. We are hopeful that all the members of the IIAWC and our carrier partners will be charitable and donate to this organization. Your participation and support of the event is appreciated and needed.
L-Day will be held on January 30 and 31, 2012. We are hoping to have a large contingent of Independent Agents from Westchester traveling to Albany to visit our local Legislators and present our concerns. This very important function helps to remind our lawmakers of who we are, and educate them as to what is important to our industry. So please make plans to attend if you can.
With regards to legislative issues, in addition to visiting Albany for L-Day, it is essential that we support IAPAC and InsurPAC. Both of these committees play a vital role in helping to support candidates that are responsive to, and understand the concerns facing Independent Insurance Agents. Please visit IIABNY.net to learn how to contribute to these organizations.
